I have to drink lots of water to back. by 9:30 I'm jonesing for a smoke and my eyes get real big. so after my last table gets the check processed and returned neatly in the black check presenters that say american express in worn gold embossment I sneak when you go into the walk-in it's all the raw smells, all cool and strong combined. meat and cheese and apples and herbs and onions condensating and wet I always eat a really big something before the shift, then some sweets, then a coffee and then I crash. and everything looks tired and a bit more quiet I notice the way everything moves in busy kitchen, like fish? the lights and sound are so actual and punctuated. nothing smells better, one thing after another rosemary, burning butter, coffee, fresh frying grease I notice the blue light of the kitchen and pink light of the dining room meeting on the soft starched white napkins my hands are folding i notice the tickling frothy touch of the champagne of the rocks here is a rock, a rock that man made, a thousand tiny rocks held together with mortar. it sits in the water next to a thousand rocks that god made the glassy light on the ever morning surface maybe we should listen to our music in alphabetical order build a fire tonight it's tea with mabel mercer i notice the silky water thank you i am beginning to notice the beauty of things without having to name them i am always looking, seeing the beauty and wondering if it sees me Jupiter "the fact that i have dark is light... i suppose" Molly F. is the light i see as jupiter from the sun, like the moon? describe yourself in terms of light and dark what are you scared of... is it true? what do you notice about light? what do you notice about color? what are you resisting? what do you want?
I notice and cannot be threatened
